Author Philip Chien has covered the space program for the past two decades. He was present for 101 shuttle launches and was present for both space shuttle accidents - the Challenger in 1986 and Columbia in 2003. For Columbia’s final flight he was one of just four reporters who covered the mission and talked to the astronauts in space; and the first reporter to realize that Columbia was in trouble.He is based in Merritt Island Florida close to the Kennedy Space Center is single and does not have any cats.
